Base Design
Aurélia de Azambuja interrogates the growing discomfort of practicing design while the world feels increasingly unstable.
Drawing from personal experience and long-term projects at Base Design, she examines how branding participates in a state of hypernormalisation, where crisis becomes background noise and design continues as usual. She shares the small, imperfect ways she tries to find back meaning and joy in her practice. This talk is less about answers than about opening space for honest conversation among designers. For the past 7 years, Senior Designer Aurélia de Azambuja brings clarity, structure, and an all-too-contagious laugh to Base’s Brussels studio. She leads with a clear conceptual direction, orchestrating teams of copywriters, illustrators, and art directors to bring bold, meaningful design to life. But her boldness goes beyond aesthetics. She’s passionate about the power of design as a tool for change, always asking the big questions – challenging her creative approach, her team, and the world around her.
